The Labor Department reported the Producer Price Index (PPI) shows inflation at the wholesale level rose 0.5% in June, coming in higher than the estimate for a rise of 0.3%. The so-called core PPI, which includes all other prices excluding the volatile food and energy components, rose 0.4%.
That topped the median economic forecast that called for an increase of 0.1%.
