Yuri Bezmenov, a Russian born, KGB trained subverter tells about the then-influence of the Soviet Union on Western media – which has not dissipated – and describes the stages of communist takeovers. This interview was conducted by G. Edward Griffin in 1984. However, sadly the interview is still timely, perhaps, more timely now than it ever was.
Bezmenov fell in love and developed an enormous amount of reverence for India, which manifested into a moral objection to communism. As a propagandist, he explains how academic intellectuals, leftist elites and so-called civil rights leaders, have all been used to subvert the American way of life and ideology.
When we listen to the former Soviet propagandist, we cannot help but to draw clear parallels between what Bezmenov said in 1984 and what has occurred since, which unfortunately is a benefit only from hindsight. He did not foresee the collapse of the Soviet Union because he believed the U.S. aid to Russia would prop the Soviet system up.
In “Our Virtuous Republic,” which I wrote prior to seeing this interview, I emphasized the “manufactured crisis” and the partnership system of “useful idiots” that are tasked with creating and perpetuating “rational ignorance” throughout certain demographic groups in America. Even though the Soviet Union has fallen, sympathizers were embedded in our society long before the Soviet communist threat, and they have and will remain in the future. This is one aspect to “The Forgotten Clause in the American Social Contract” along with our own duty to live and act in a manner that renders government unnecessary.
The tyrannical nature of government is and always will be a “self-evident” truth, which despite the delusion of some on the left, is the reason why it is so imperative to understand that – no matter how noble the cause – government cannot be relied upon to solve societies’ problems. I focus on the Progressive Era in the book for the simple reason that academics herald the period as a triumph for Democracy, but the data are not corroborating of that claim. For instance, while the Sixteenth Amendment was sold in the media and within academic circles as a “fairness” argument – the Seventeenth Amendment was proposed to end corruption – in fact, the complete opposite has occurred.
