Netanyahu Slams UN Human Rights Council In Blistering Critique Of Failure To Confront Islamic Extremism

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the United Nations General Assembly today that “ISIS and Hamas are branches of the same poisonous tree.” He slammed Hamas sympathizers in the U.N. Human Rights Council, who condemned Israel’s handling of the latest Hamas aggression, and offered photographic evidence to prove Hamas uses human shields to defend themselves from Israeli bombs.

“I’ve come to speak on behalf of my people, the people of Israel,” Netanyahu said. “I’ve come here to expose the brazen lies spoken at this podium against my country, and against the brave soldiers who defend it.”

The Israeli prime minister wasted little time in criticizing the United Nation’s for ignoring evidence, enabling the terror group’s tactics and even contributing to the rise of anti-Semitism around the world.

“By investigating Israel rather than Hamas for war crimes, the UN Human Rights Council has betrayed its noble mission to protect the innocent,” Netanyahu stated.

The latest Israeli-Palestian conflict began in June when officials made a grim discovery, locating the bodies of three previously kidnapped Israeli teens in shallow graves in the West Bank. The kidnapping is now largely believed to be a provocation by Hamas, who was suffering financially from a joint Israel-Egypt crackdown on a blockade in the Gaza Strip. The network had been used by Hamas to smuggle weapons and human trafficking aimed at raising ransom money, among other activities. In July, Israel launched an offensive to end what became a constant barrage of rocket fire from the Gaza Strip and even Lebanon into Israeli cities.

Israel took an unprecedented amount of criticism over the attacks, despite taking enormous measures to limit civilian casualties. PPD also confirmed in July that the Gaza interior minister, as well as Hamas itself, had told Palestinians to ignore Israeli evacuation warnings in an effort to run up civilian casualties.

“By granting international legitimacy to the use of human shields, the UN’s Human Rights Council has thus become a Terrorist Rights Council,” he said.

Prime Minister Netanyahu criticized what is either hypocrisy or equally dangerous global ignorance to the nature of the threat from Islamic extremism, and to what would be a more serious threat from a nuclear Iran.

“Last week, many of the countries represented here rightly applauded President Obama for leading the effort to confront ISIS,” Netanyahu said. “And yet weeks before, some of these same countries, the same countries that now support confronting ISIS, opposed Israel for confronting Hamas. They evidently don’t understand that ISIS and Hamas are branches of the same poisonous tree.”

Netanyahu also spoke to the rise of anti-Semitism across Europe that was on full display during the conflict. Swastikas, the abhorrent symbol of the Jew-purging Nazi regime, could be seen at protests throughout France, Britian and even a rally in Washington D.C.

“The Human Rights… that’s an oxymoron, the UN Human Rights Council, but I’ll use it just the same, the Council’s biased treatment of Israel is only one manifestation of the return of the world’s oldest prejudices,” Netanyahu said. “We hear mobs today in Europe call for the gassing of Jews. We hear some national leaders compare Israel to the Nazis. This is not a function of Israel’s policies. It’s a function of diseased minds. And that disease has a name. It’s called anti-Semitism.”

The Israeli people, quite strikingly, overwhelmingly supported the prime minister’s handling of the Hamas conflict. The discovery of a vast network of “terror tunnels” has been a game-changer for Israeli public opinion.

“The people of Israel pray for peace. But our hopes and the world’s hopes for peace are in danger,” Netanyahu said.

He went on to warn that even though Islamic extremists “all share a fanatic ideology,” Iran remains a greater threat than the Islamic State. He said a nuclear Iran “would pose the gravest threat to us all.”

“Iran’s President Rouhani stood here last week, and shed crocodile tears over what he called ‘the globalization of terrorism.’ Maybe he should spare us those phony tears and have a word instead with the commanders of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, the prime minister said.

Iran has long been a leading state sponsor of Islamic terrorism, supplying much of the rocket inventory to Hamas, while sending in al-Qaeda militants to fight and kill U.S. troops in Iraq, which have now evolved into the ISIS threat Rouhani now supposedly weeps over.

“That’s your moderate,” he said. Netanyahu issued an eery warning to nations who are “fooled by Iran’s manipulative charm offensive,” and may be persuaded to “lift the sanctions and remove the obstacles to Iran’s path to the bomb.”

“Once Iran produces atomic bombs, all the charm and all the smiles will suddenly disappear. They’ll just vanish,” he warned. “It’s then that the ayatollahs will show their true face and unleash their aggressive fanaticism on the entire world.”

“To defeat ISIS and leave Iran as a threshold nuclear power is to win the battle and lose the war.”

  • "...ISIS and Hamas are branches of the same poisonous tree.” -- This coward is a true moron. ISIS is a fundamentalist Islamic religious movement. Hamas is a democratically elected political movement which doesn't closely resemble ISIS. Hamas is a resistance to a brutal and oppressive military occupation that has been going on for over 66 years which wants Palestinian state-hood and self-rule. Netanyahu is a war criminal who needs to be tried for war crimes and crimes against humanity!

    • So Hamas attacking civilians and using their own civilians as shields is not a war crime? Hamas is a terrorist group that openly supports killing Jews. YOu can find all of this on youtube in their own propaganda speeches.

      • The "human shields" argument against Hamas is a complete projection. An article in Haaretz documents how the IDF uses Palestinian children as human shields in the West Bank. There are videos showing this as well. The recent Russel Tribunal has eye-witness testimonies from international as well as Israeli journalists documenting numerous cases of the IDF using human shields in the recent Gaza massacre, and in the meantime, there is not a single proven allegation of Hamas using human shields.

As to Hamas being a terrorist organization, one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. Israel has been practicing state-sponsored terrorism on the Palestinians since its inception. Israel was born out of terrorism. The Stern Gang and the Irgun were famous for massacring Palestinians and of course the Brits suffered the consequences of such actions through the King David hotel bombing.

All of this Hamas charter garbage is Israeli propaganda...the founder of Hamas (and you can find this on youTube) wanted peace, recognized Israel and to live side-by-side with Israel on his own sovereign land. This so-called "Hamas Charter" was drafted by one ignorant person after Hamas was voted in and Israel has capitalized on it. However, if you want to learn about what the other side has to say, then read about the recent Israeli politicians' remarks of genocide and building concentration camps for the people of Gaza. One politician went so far to say that Palestinian mothers should all be killed so they don't give birth to "snakes"---despicable!

        • Normally I don't respond. In this case, after the first sentence I almost just tuned out. All of that propaganda would sound terribly convincing and all, if not for the fact I have seen it first hand.

Hamas -- which is a terror organization, by definition -- uses men, women and children for human shields, many of which are willing to die for the "greatness of Allah" and to trick the naive or ideologically blinded. The IDF went above and beyond to warn civilians of the coming attacks and to allow them time to evacuate. However, the Gaza defense minister, who is a Hamas puppet, as is also Abbas, specifically told them to stay in their homes.

Let's throw out some more reports:

          http://www.peoplespunditdaily.com/2014/07/13/news/world/gaza-interior-minister-tells-residents-ignore-israeli-evacuation-warning/

Those who did not, were shot in the head as they made their way out of their homes. Here's another video, only this one shows Gaza youth confirming what Hamas does.

          http://www.peoplespunditdaily.com/2014/07/22/news/world/gaza-youth-true-hamas-doesnt-let-people-evacuate-homes/

You could believe Haaratz, or you could believe Mosab Hassan Yousef, the son of the founder of Hamas, who spoke frequently and courageously during the last conflict.

“Hamas doesn’t care about the lives of Palestinians. Don’t think for a second please that Hamas cares for the children’s blood,” he said. “They want the children of Gaza to die.”

          Here's his interview:

          http://www.peoplespunditdaily.com/2014/08/03/news/world/son-hamas-founder-want-children-gaza-die/

Don't be gullible. Hamas kidnapped those three Israeli teens and dumped their bodies in a shallow grave in the West Bank intentionally. They started this war on purpose because the joint Israeli-Egyptian blockade cracked down on the tunnels they used to smuggle weapons and kidnap those they held for ransom for profit. Everyone knows Hamas was financially broke before the conflict because of the blockade, which is why their chief demand was always to loosen restrictions on the blockade.

Israel, on the other hand, has zero to gain from conflict. Nothing.

          • I'm not excusing Hamas. But they are the only game in town and it is a response to Israeli terrorism. Haaretz is not lying...there are videos showing the IDF using Palestinian children as human shields. Also, are you saying that all of these journalists in Gaza who testified in the Russel Tribunal are lying? What reason would they have to lie?

Israel has been brutalizing the Palestinians since its inception. 27000 homes have been demolished since 1967 and it continues. Hamas may have been weakened, but a new and more powerful resistance will replace it and Israel will never live in peace until it recognizes the right of the Palestinians and gives them statehood.

          • The Palestinian leadership's serial rejection of the numerous opportunities for statehood since the Peel Commission report of 1937 casts a serious doubt on its interest in the creation of an independent state. Instead of engaging in the daunting tasks of nation-building and state creation, all Palestinian leaders without any exception—from the Jerusalem mufti Hajj Amin Husseini, who led the Palestinian Arabs from the early 1920s to the late 1940s; to Yasser Arafat, who dominated Palestinian politics from the mid-1960s to his death in November 2004; to Mahmoud Abbas—have preferred to immerse their hapless constituents in disastrous conflicts that culminated in their collective undoing and continued statelessness. At the same time, of course, these leaders have lined their pockets

          • You mean the discredit "Russell Tribunal"

The 2012 Tribunal’s “jurors” featured such jurisprudential luminaries as Pink Floyd lyricist Roger Waters, who floated a “pig” balloon over a Belgian performance equating the Star of David with the swastika; Israel-hating novelist Alice Walker who won’t allow her novels to be translated into Hebrew; and anti-Semitic former Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney (D) who views the 9/11 attacks as a conspiracy by George Bush and the Jews.

Now, the Russell Tribunal is convening in Belgium with a new jury heavily weighted with names associated with the notoriously anti-Israel UN Human Rights Commission (UNHRC) in Geneva. The UNHRC—whose member majority is a mutual self-congratulation society made up of dictatorial regimes from China to Iran to Cuba—has condemned Israel for, among many other “crimes”, the perfectly legal naval blockade designed to interdict weapons shipments into “Hamastan” by “pacifist,” axe-wielding activists from the Free Gaza Flotilla. In 2009, the UNHRC’s Goldstone Commission condemned Israel for “war crimes” in a verdict so flagrantly one-sided that even its chairman, South African Judge Richard Goldstone, ultimately had to disassociate himself from the report bearing his name.

The current Russell Tribunal “jurors” include the A-Team of Israel-bashers, including the UN’s former “independent expert” on Israel, Richard Falk, John Dugard, former U.N. Special Rapporteur for Human Rights, and again Roger Watters.

Among the star “witnesses” are: anti-Israel Palestinian, Mohammed Omer; Norwegian doctor Mads Gilbert, who said last month that Palestinian resistance (ie; Hamas) is " fighting for us"; Irish Col. Desmond Travers whose prior “expert” testimony before the Goldstone Commission has been thoroughly discredited; Israeli soldier Eran Efrati who never served in Gaza and specializes in spinning the testimony of Israeli war veterans against the IDF ; and “genocide scholar” Paul Behrens who believes that Jews are the major perpetrators of “genocide.”

One thing will be missing from these testimonies: Don’t count on anyone uttering the “H” word—nothing about Hamas members kidnapping and murdering three Israeli teenagers or Hamas’ 9,000 missiles pummeling Israel civilians or Hamas’ subterranean maze of offensive tunnels burrowing directly into Israel where they planned to murder and kidnap untold number of Israeli civilians

          • Hey loser farmer boy, if you think I'm going to take any of this garbage that you're copying and pasting seriously, you're wrong. Go back to your Zionist hole and ask the POS Israeli Hasbara to change their tired old material. Your crap is now officially in my deleted folder.

        • Hamas admits publicly that it wants to wipe out the Jews and before Hamas came to power they kidnapped Israel troops to free allies "that have committed murder" from Israeli prisons. If the Palestinian people want peace then maybe they should stop firing rockets at children.

          • LOL...what's inane about your response is that it's a complete projection when you say "if the Palestinian people want peace, then maybe they should stop firing rockets at children." How many Israeli children died from the firecrackers that Hamas fired? How many Gaza children died from all the tons of warheads Israel dropped? And don't start talking to me about the effectiveness of iron-dome, as it's completely hyped up much like the patriots used to be.

80% of the population in Gaza is comprised of 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation of refugees who were ethnically cleansed from Palestine in 1948 by the cowardly Zionists. Israel has made their lives miserable, limiting their food intake, blockading their waters, closing off the borders and firing at them constantly. Gaza is an open air prison and if I were living there, I would do anything to fight my oppressors, even if it meant taking up arms. You can sit there in your righteous, moral high chair and judge these people, much as the westerners do, but until you're subjected to such atrocities, I suggest you STFU!

          • Palestinians who live in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank of Israel have the 8th highest obesity rate in the world, and the third highest among women according to statistics collected by The World Health Organization (WHO) and published in The Economist magazine.

From the time Gaza was under Israeli as a result of a War of aggression by the Arab states in 1967 to ‘87 the West Bank and Gaza Strip were among the fastest growing economies in the world. In Gaza the per capita income soared from $80 in 1967 to $1,706 in 1987. In the West Bank the GDP increased more that 3x, with 1/3 of its work force having Jobs in Israel. In '67 there were 113 clinics and hospitals by '87 there were 378. By '87 there were 6 universities and 14 vocational colleges where before there were none. Infant mortality for Palestinians dropped from 86 per 1,000 down to 20 per 1,000 by 1989. The average life expectancy of a Palestinian rose from 48 year in 1967 to 73 years by 1989. After Arafat's 2 wars against Israel and election of the terrorist group Hamas this came to an end.

American Jewish donors had bought more than 3,000 greenhouses from Israeli settlers in Gaza for $14 million last month and transferred them to the Palestinian Authority. On the day the the last Jew left Gaza Palestinians looted dozens of greenhouses, walking off with irrigation hoses, water pumps and plastic sheeting in a blow to fledgling efforts to reconstruct the Gaza Strip.

    • "Hamas is a democratically elected" yes and so were the Nazis and like the Germans were held responsible for the crimes against humanity after WWII so too must the Palestinians of Gaza.
