Heritage rightly points out that whenever Congress starts stacking a bill it simply means special interest – their friends – profit and get rich.
In the farm bill, money that We the People naively think will be headed to Iowa and other farm states is money that is hidden in the pockets of the well-connected. Remember in the 2012 election our good President Barack Obama and his Democratic friends made such a big deal over Republicans holding up the farm bill?
It may not have seemed as if it was the wise argument to make at the time considering Iowa was a battleground state, but obviously, it was the truth. This should make us all sick no matter what political stripe we wear. From Heritage:
Whenever Congress throws too much into one bill, special interests profit. The massive farm bill—which is already 80 percent food stamps—is no exception. So what about the rest of the bill—the farm-related part? Heritage’s Diane Katz reports that it includes subsidies for more than a few surprising recipients. SHARE our infographic to spread the word.
