Much has been made in the George Zimmerman Trial that Trayvon Martin was just a poor little kid that was on his way home with Skittles and an Ice Tea. Trayvon Martin was a 17 year-old who was over 6 foot tall, had a history of violence, and was suspended during the period of the confrontation for drugs. But the jury was not allowed to hear that information, and worse, nor of the gun that Trayvon Martin is seen with in photos taken from his cell phone only days before the incident.
Now here is a story of more poor little kids – 4 black teens – who have beaten a 36 year old white man to death in Georgia. Yet, there is nothing in the media thus far, and certainly no one has had the courage to begin a discussion over the real challenges that the black communities are facing. That, of course, wouldn’t be of any monetary value to the racist Rev. Al Shaprton, who has profited for decades by sticking his dirty finger into the racial wounds of our nation, all to keep them from ever healing.
This time, however, the George Zimmerman Trial may just have caused the wounds to become infected. Only time will tell, but even if George Zimmerman was convicted it would have done irreparable damage to the integrity of our entire criminal justice system. In fact, ithas regardless, and no doubt, Lady Liberty is weeping.
With the August launch of the Institute for Educating Civil Society site, and with your help, we can do more than just Blog about these injustices, we can begin to build an effective counter-argument. By getting into the communities and lives of those who need us the most, we can reduce susceptibility to hatred, ignorance and bias. This cannot be allowed to continue. Help us help society render the Rev. Al Sharpton, and others following in his footsteps, unnecessary in America!Read Also:
