The latest Obama speech was more of the same, except for one little nuance. Now, he is still going to lie openly to supporters who could watch Obama murder a child and still think he is the best thing since sliced bread, but he is going to do it for a really long time. That’s called a “cult of personality” and it’s almost as pathetic as it is dangerous.
For those of us who have enough sense to make decisions to support “leaders” based upon policy, character and leadership, there were several things that jumped out at us immediately from President Obama’s long-winded and incredibly boring speech. Sure he was excited about his speech yesterday. He talked using Obama-typical grandiose terms about everything that’s happened since he became the president, and everything that we can expect to happen during the rest of his second term.
Here are four major whoppers Obama served up to those starving for his fast-food garbage yesterday. Heritage has posted the same first four, but they missed the most egregious lie of them all. Enjoy:
1. All Is Quiet On The Obamacare Front.
He’s said this before, and each time, it’s actually more of a blatant lie each time. To hear the President describe the disaster of a bill, Obamacare is all about security, free things, and discounts.
But the daily march of Obamacare is bringing higher premiums, new taxes, and fewer choices. The Obama Administration has already delayed the employer mandate—only the latest in a string of delays and failures to implement the law.
In his speech yesterday, Obama said, “There are folks out there who are actively working to make this law fail.” Nope, the law is failing just fine on its own. And that’s why Congress should not fund it with taxpayer dollars.
2. I Cut The Deficit In Half.
This was one of Obama’s big first-term promises, and one that Romney repeated tried to get to stick during the 2012 election, so he would like to be able to say that he’s delivered on it. But this claim ignores the huge deficit he ran up during his first few years in office.
If you remember, Congress had to pass Obamacare before we could see what was in it, according to then-Speaker Pelosi. Perhaps, Obama and the Democrats felt they had to run up the deficit before he could cut it?
“Public debt doubled under his watch,” says Romina Boccia, Heritage’s Grover M. Hermann Fellow in Federal Budgetary Affairs. “Deficits projected at $642 billion by the Congressional Budget Office for this year are ‘low’ only when compared to their trillion-dollar-plus levels over the past four years. The U.S. deficit and debt situation actually worsened since before the recession.”
3. Middle-Class Income Is Stuck In The ’70s.
The President always portrays himself as the savior of the middle class—and it’s the “nefarious” 1 percent he’s going to save us from. However, the true as I have pointed out after every BLS report released, it that the middle-class is shrinking, and they only jobs are for people who are rich and those who serve them. Even available service jobs are mostly part-time jobs.
His claim: “The income of the top 1 percent nearly quadrupled from 1979 to 2007, while the typical family’s barely budged.”
The truth, incomes across the board have been rising. Heritage’s David Azerrad clears up Obama’s misnomer:
According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, after-tax income has risen for all Americans, albeit by very different margins, during this timeframe. For those in the middle three quintiles—i.e. the “typical families”—income has increased by almost 40 percent.
As Ron Haskins and Scott Winship of the Brookings Institution conclude: “There is no disappearing middle class in these data; nor can household income, even at the bottom, be characterized as stagnant, let alone declining.”
American workers today are more productive and better compensated. The problem American workers are having is the severe lack of jobs, President Obama’s policies have directly resulted in this economic environment, where jobs have completely stagnated.
4. White House Scandals Are “Phony”
“With an endless parade of distractions, political posturing and phony scandals, Washington has taken its eye off the ball,” Obama said in the economic address at Knox College. But I have one question that I can’t seem to get out of my mind. Which scandals exactly was the president referring to? I understand that he used pluralism, but he himself claimed to be “deeply concerned” about the IRS scandal when he heard about it like the rest of us, “on TV.”
Obama on Wednesday did not specify which controversies were “phony,” but the administration has been attacked over National Security Agency surveillance programs leaked to the public, the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups, the Department of Justice’s seizing of media phone records, and last year’s attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya. We all know that the Democrats want to bury Benghazi – certainly more than the parents of those who died wanted to bury their children – but it is not going away anytime soon. In fact, Special Operations Speaks organized the largest petition sent to Congress in history just this week, so apologies to Hillary Clinton for continuously dragging up that particular “phony” scandal.
Bottom Line
Not only is Barack Obama a bad leader, but he is also a dishonest man, and the damage he has done to both our liberty and economic prosperity will take a generation to reverse. The American people get the government they elect to have, however, it doesn’t mean we don’t have the right and responsibility to constantly rub it in. You can read the platitude filled garbage below if you’d like.
