Obama: ‘I didn’t set a red line’ in Syria ‘the world did’

President Obama, while speaking in a joint press conference in Stockholm Sweden, denied that he even set a red line. Refusing to take the full burden the president said, “first of all, I didn’t set a red line, the world did.”

In other words, instead of interpreting his statements as they were made, Obama would have everyone believe that he was simply defending the international norms established by the United Nations. He went on to also state that the “Congress set a red line,” referring presumably to the 1997 resolution sponsored by Sen. Barbara Boxer D-Ca, and Sen. Rick Santorum R-Pa,  which explicitly dealt with Syria and the possession and use of WMDs.

President Obama also downplayed the NSA program, specifically the revelations learned through the internal audit, which stated that the agency literally failed to follow guidelines thousands of times in the past. Obama commented that he thought perhaps technology and capability was moving far faster than the law, which has resulted in restrictions that are sorely inadequate.

Other topics during the joint press conference with the Swedish Prime Minister included climate change. One reporter asked Obama what he would like “to import from Sweden to the United States,” claiming that, “you are often accused of trying to turn the United States into Sweden” by opposition at home. Climate change and carbon tax policy was on the top of Mr. Obama’s wish list.
