President Donald J. Trump takes the Oath of Office on January 20, 2017.

President of the United States Donald J. Trump, after taking the oath of office, delivered his inaugural address. He is the entire transcript, annotated.

TRUMP: Chief Justice Roberts, President Carter, President Clinton, President Bush, President Obama, fellow Americans and people of the world, thank you.

(APPLAUSE) We, the citizens of America, are now joined in a great national effort to rebuild our country and restore its promise for all of our people.

(APPLAUSE)

Together, we will determine the course of America and the world for many, many years to come. We will face challenges, we will confront hardships, but we will get the job done.

Every four years, we gather on these steps to carry out the orderly and peaceful transfer of power, and we are grateful to President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for their gracious aid throughout this transition. They have been magnificent. Thank you.

(APPLAUSE)

Today’s ceremony, however, has very special meaning because today, we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another or from one party to another, but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C. and giving it back to you, the people.

(APPLAUSE)

For too long, a small group in our nation’s capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost. Washington flourished, but the people did not share in its wealth. Politicians prospered, but the jobs left and the factories closed. The establishment protected itself, but not the citizens of our country. Their victories have not been your victories. Their triumphs have not been your triumphs. And while they celebrated in our nation’s capital, there was little to celebrate for struggling families all across our land.

(APPLAUSE)

That all changes starting right here and right now because this moment is your moment, it belongs to you.

(APPLAUSE)

TRUMP: It belongs to everyone gathered here today and everyone watching all across America. This is your day. This is your celebration. And this, the United States of America, is your country.

(APPLAUSE)

What truly matters is not which party controls our government, but whether our government is controlled by the people.

(APPLAUSE)

January 20th, 2017 will be remembered as the day the people became the rulers of this nation again.

(APPLAUSE)

The forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer.

(APPLAUSE)

Everyone is listening to you now. You came by the tens of millions to become part of a historic movement, the likes of which the world has never seen before.

(APPLAUSE)

At the center of this movement is a crucial conviction, that a nation exists to serve its citizens. Americans want great schools for their children, safe neighborhoods for their families, and good jobs for themselves. These are just and reasonable demands of righteous people and a righteous public.

But for too many of our citizens, a different reality exists: mothers and children trapped in poverty in our inner cities; rusted out factories scattered like tombstones across the landscape of our nation; an education system flush with cash, but which leaves our young and beautiful students deprived of all knowledge; and the crime and the gangs and the drugs that have stolen too many lives and robbed our country of so much unrealized potential.

This American carnage stops right here and stops right now.

(APPLAUSE) We are one nation and their pain is our pain. Their dreams are our dreams. And their success will be our success. We share one heart, one home, and one glorious destiny. The oath of office I take today is an oath of allegiance to all Americans.

(APPLAUSE)

For many decades, we’ve enriched foreign industry at the expense of American industry; subsidized the armies of other countries, while allowing for the very sad depletion of our military. We’ve defended other nations’ borders while refusing to defend our own.

(APPLAUSE)

And spent trillions and trillions of dollars overseas while America’s infrastructure has fallen into disrepair and decay. We’ve made other countries rich, while the wealth, strength and confidence of our country has dissipated over the horizon.

One by one, the factories shuttered and left our shores, with not even a thought about the millions and millions of American workers that were left behind. The wealth of our middle class has been ripped from their homes and then redistributed all across the world.

But that is the past. And now, we are looking only to the future.

(APPLAUSE)

TRUMP: We assembled here today are issuing a new decree to be heard in every city, in every foreign capital, and in every hall of power. From this day forward, a new vision will govern our land. From this day forward, it’s going to be only America first, America first.

(APPLAUSE)

Every decision on trade, on taxes, on immigration, on foreign affairs will be made to benefit American workers and American families. We must protect our borders from the ravages of other countries making our products, stealing our companies and destroying our jobs.

(APPLAUSE)

Protection will lead to great prosperity and strength. I will fight for you with every breath in my body and I will never ever let you down.

(APPLAUSE)

America will start winning again, winning like never before.

(APPLAUSE)

We will bring back our jobs. We will bring back our borders. We will bring back our wealth. And we will bring back our dreams.

(APPLAUSE)

We will build new roads and highways and bridges and airports and tunnels and railways all across our wonderful nation. We will get our people off of welfare and back to work, rebuilding our country with American hands and American labor.

(APPLAUSE)

We will follow two simple rules; buy American and hire American.

(APPLAUSE)

We will seek friendship and goodwill with the nations of the world, but we do so with the understanding that it is the right of all nations to put their own interests first. We do not seek to impose our way of life on anyone, but rather to let it shine as an example. We will shine for everyone to follow.

(APPLAUSE)

We will reinforce old alliances and form new ones and unite the civilized world against radical Islamic terrorism, which we will eradicate from the face of the Earth.

(APPLAUSE)

At the bedrock of our politics will be a total allegiance to the United States of America, and through our loyalty to our country, we will rediscover our loyalty to each other. When you open your heart to patriotism, there is no room for prejudice.

(APPLAUSE)

The bible tells us how good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity. We must speak our minds openly, debate our disagreements honestly, but always pursue solidarity. When America is united, America is totally unstoppable.

(APPLAUSE)

There should be no fear. We are protected and we will always be protected. We will be protected by the great men and women of our military and law enforcement. And most importantly, we will be protected by God.

(APPLAUSE)

TRUMP: Finally, we must think big and dream even bigger. In America, we understand that a nation is only living as long as it is striving. We will no longer accept politicians who are all talk and no action, constantly complaining, but never doing anything about it.

(APPLAUSE)

The time for empty talk is over. Now arrives the hour of action.

(APPLAUSE)

Do not allow anyone to tell you that it cannot be done. No challenge can match the heart and fight and spirit of America. We will not fail. Our country will thrive and prosper again.

We stand at the birth of a new millennium, ready to unlock the mysteries of space, to free the earth from the miseries of disease, and to harness the energies, industries and technologies of tomorrow. A new national pride will stir ourselves, lift our sights and heal our divisions.

It’s time to remember that old wisdom our soldiers will never forget, that whether we are black or brown or white, we all bleed the same red blood of patriots.

(APPLAUSE)

We all enjoy the same glorious freedoms and we all salute the same great American flag.

(APPLAUSE)

And whether a child is born in the urban sprawl of Detroit or the wind-swept plains of Nebraska, they look up at the same night sky, they will their heart with the same dreams, and they are infused with the breath of life by the same almighty creator.

(APPLAUSE)

So to all Americans in every city near and far, small and large, from mountain to mountain, from ocean to ocean, hear these words. You will never be ignored again.

(APPLAUSE) Your voice, your hopes, and your dreams will define our American destiny. And your courage and goodness and love will forever guide us along the way.

Together, we will make America strong again. We will make America wealthy again. We will make America proud again. We will make America safe again. And yes, together we will make America great again.

(APPLAUSE)

Thank you. God bless you. And God bless America.

(APPLAUSE)

Thank you.

(APPLAUSE)

God bless America.

(APPLAUSE)

Donald-J-Trump-Inauguration-Day-2017-740x400

Here are a few of the most memorable lines spoken by President Donald J. Trump during his inauguration speech on January 20, 2017. In what could only be called a clarion call for conservative populism, he put the established power on notice and told the American people that they will never be forgotten again.

Several years ago Russia passed a ban on the adoption of Russian children by Americans after the death of a boy at the hands of his American adopted parents. The law was named after Dima Yakovlev who died in 2008. Many analysts believe the real intention of the law was in response to the U.S. Magnitsky List which sanctioned high-level Russian officials.

However, the law has negatively impacted the thousands of Russian children living in orphanages with reduced chances to find a family. The government now stands ready to possibly reverse this action.

Valentina Matvienko, the speaker in Russia’s higher house of parliament, the Federation Council, said that the Russian government was “open to dialogue,” The Moscow Times reported.

“If the United States can guarantee our children’s rights and well-being, if they are ready to cooperate with our diplomatic representatives, and if they can ensure that our officials are updated on the children’s well-being, then there’s no reason that everything can’t ‘return to normal,’” she said. “It was never our aim to keep this law in place.”

“There has been no attempt by U.S. authorities to begin a dialogue with Russia on the issue over the last three years,” she said. “Not a single step was made to try and solve this problem.”

The change of heart also comes after the European Court of Human Rights declared the law illegal.

Far-left groups funded by George Soros and his son are waging a campaign to defeat Steven Mnuchin, President-elect Donald J. Trump’s pick for Treasury Secretary. As part of the effort, at least one television ad campaign painting Mr. Mnuchin as a predatory lender aims to pressure 5 Republicans, including Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Sen. Dean Heller of Nevada to vote “No” on Mr. Mnuchin.

“Steven Mnuchin, the foreclosure king, made millions by taking people’s homes with no regard to anything but his own bottom line,” said Stephanie Taylor, co-founder of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC), one of the main groups running the ad.

The former partner of Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:GS) was involved with the team that bought the failing California mortgage lender IndyMac from the government in 2009 following the financial crisis. It was renamed OneWest after he became chairman of the company, which was ultimately sold to the nation’s largest small-business lender (CIT) in 2015 for more than twice what the group paid for it.

Now, the same deal that won him accolades from the business community and The Wall Street Journal is the main subject matter used by PCCC and others who are opposed to his nomination. The deal was backed by a collection of 14 nonprofit groups that received a combined $5.95 million from OneWest. The $3.4 billion deal may not have even gone through without their supportive letters.

PCCC was founded in 2009 by Adam Green, a former MoveOn.org online organizer and and Stephanie Taylor, former MoveOn.org and SEIU organizer. PCCC, like MoveOn.org, collectively known as on MoveOn, is also a front for wealthy radical leftists like Soros. The billionaire financier who is often known as “The Man who Broke the Bank of England,” donated $1.46 million to help initiate MoveOn.org. Linda Pritzker, a member of the Hyatt hotel family, donated $4 million to the group, as well.

Soros the elder met with Democratic Party leadership in Washington D.C. during a conference a week after the Nov. 8 presidential election to discuss the Left’s strategy to sabotage President-elect Trump during his first 100 days.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., PCCC’s favorite senator, was in attendance and is now playing a pivotal role in the strategy devised and agreed upon at the three-day conference in November.

On Wednesday, Sen. Warren led a group of 10 Democratic senators at a forum to hear testimony from some of the people who lost their homes after Mr. Mnuchin’s bank foreclosed.

At the hearing, Mr. Mnuchin vehemently denied Big Media reports claiming he ran a “foreclosure machine,” which of course are planted and pushed at the behest of Sen. Warren and groups like MoveOn and PCCC.

“On the contrary, I was committed to loan modifications intended to stop foreclosures,” he told the Senate Finance Committee. “I ran a ‘Loan Modification Machine.’ Whenever we could do loan modifications, we did them.”

One of PCCC’s top donors is Jonathan Soros, the founder and chief executive officer of JS Capital Management LLC, as well as the son of the Nazi-sympathizer, himself.

Soros the younger supports the elimination of the electoral college, which he says is undemocratic and unconstitutional, despite it being in the U.S. Constitution. He also benefits from all the loopholes Mr. Mnuchin pledged to work with members of Congress to close during the hearing Thursday. According to second quarter 2015 filings, the U.S. assets in his hedge fund portfolio were valued at $500 million, up from $394.76 million the previous quarter. That year, Bloomberg Politics called him one of the hedge fund titans.

But a detail that has been left out of the story told by Big Media is that Mr. Mnuchin ran the investment fund set up by Soros before he and two former colleagues from Goldman Sachs moved on to a new hedge fund venture in 2004–Dune Capital Management. While Soros was left to make other arrangements, Mr. Mnuchin led Dune into financing Hollywood movies including a number of blockbuster hits including “Avatar.”

During his hearing, he told the Senate Finance Committee that his bank extended over 100,000 loan modifications to borrowers who were behind on their mortgage payments. Before he took over IndyMac, which had already become the second biggest bank failure of the financial crisis, it had one of the worst portfolios stuffed with bad mortgage loans “in the history of time.”

“Unfortunately, not all of the homes could be saved through these programs and despite my best efforts, some were sadly subject to foreclosure.” The guidelines Mr. Mnuchin used at OneWest to offer loan modifications were put in place by numerous government programs, with limitations.

Mnuchin served as the national finance chairman for the Trump campaign, a decision he made after the president-elect won the New York Republican primary and one his Wall Street buddies questioned vociferously. Big banks and finance sector titans almost unanimously backed Hillary Clinton for president, including Soros, his son and both PCCC and MoveOn.

The Manufacturing Business Outlook Survey, the Philadelphia Federal Reserve gauge of factory activity in the Mid-Atlantic region, rose to 23.6 in January. That’s up from a revised reading of 19.7 the month prior and better than the median forecast that called for 15.8.

Readings above zero indicate expansion, while those below indicate contraction.

But optimism regarding future business conditions indicates even further increased growth in the manufacturing sector over at least the first half of the year. The diffusion index for future general activity is now at its highest reading since August 2014, up from a reading of 48.7 in December to 56.6 this month.

Firms reported an increase in manufacturing employment this month. The percentage of firms reporting an increase in employment (19%) exceeded the percentage reporting a decrease (6%). The current employment index improved 9 points, registering its second consecutive positive reading. Firms also reported an increase in work hours this month: The average workweek index, which was essentially unchanged from December, has now been positive for three consecutive months.

President-elect Donald J. Trump’s favorability rating remained above 50% in the final PPD Tracking Poll taken ahead of Inauguration Day on January 20, 2017. Worth noting, despite the very public argument between him and Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., gains made the prior week in his favorability rating among minorities held steady.

The PPD Poll, which conducted the most accurate surveys in 2016 on both the national and statewide level, finds 52% of likely voters now view the New York businessman favorably, while 41% continue to hold an unfavorable view of him.

The civil rights leader-turned-lawmaker last week said he did not believe President-elect Trump was legitimate, but Americans overwhelmingly disagree. Sixty-nine (39%) percent of all voters disagreed with Rep. Lewis and believe he “crossed the line” juxtaposed to only 17% who agreed and thought he was “being a patriot,” including the vast majority of black voters.

This week, 59% of whites said they view President-elect Trump favorably, down from 61% in the prior week’s PPD Poll. The percentage of black voters who view him favorably held steady (19%) after increasing significantly from 10% to 17% two weeks ago, while the percentage viewing him unfavorably decreased from 70% from 68%.

“Donald Trump’s base on November 8 was undoubtedly white, but he is beginning to show broader appeal beyond that base,” said Richard Baris, the People’s Pundit and head of polling at PPD. “The working class message and headline economic news is giving the new president an opportunity to reach out to black voters, specifically male black voters between the ages of 35 to 54.”

Among Hispanics, Mr. Trump’s favorability rating increased slightly from 36% to 37%, after gaining significant ground from 31% to 37% two weeks ago. Meanwhile, the percentage viewing him unfavorably also ticked up from 61% to 63%, after falling from 64% to 61% the week prior.

Hispanics continue to remain the least undecided voting demographic, though also display a propensity to lead the way in the “mind-changers” category.

Female voters remain almost evenly split on the new incoming president, with the percentage of women viewing him unfavorably ticking back up to 47% from 46% the week prior. Still, this is down from 49% two weeks ago. The percentage of female voters who view him favorably held steady at 45% after gaining two percentage points from 42% two weeks prior.

The percentage of men viewing President-elect Trump favorably fell slightly to 59%, after hitting a high of 60% last week.

The PPD Poll follows level 1 AAPOR standards of disclosure and WAPOR/ESOMAR code of conduct. The survey was conducted from Jan. 12 to Jan. 18 and is based on 1719 interviews of likely voters participating in the PPD Internet Polling Panel and has a 95% confidence interval. The PPD Poll does not weight based on party affiliation (party ID), but rather for demographics outlined in the U.S. Census Current Population Survey such as age, sex, race, education and region. The sample identified a partisan split of 37% Democrat, 33% Republican and 31% Independent/Other. It uses a likely voter model based on responses to screening questions relating to prior voting history, enthusiasm and registration status etc.

Ronna Romney McDaniel, the former head of the Michigan GOP, has been chosen to lead the Republican National Committee (RNC), making her the first women to lead it in 40 years. Ms. McDaniel, 43, was nominated to take over for outgoing RNC Chair Reince Priebus, who served in the role for six years before he was nominated to serve as White House chief of staff.

“I am a mom from Michigan,” she said. “I am an outsider. And I am going to do everything I can to make sure Donald Trump and Republicans everywhere are successful.”

Mr. Priebus gave his successor a strong endorsement in his final address to the committee, calling her “the right woman to lead the RNC” and touted her role in turning Michigan red in the election.

Ms. McDaniel, the niece of 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney, was an early supporter of President-elect Trump even as her uncle was arguably his fiercest critic. With McDaniel the head of the Michigan GOP, the New York businessman was the first Republican to carry The Great Lakes State since 1988.

“It is that level of passion, along with her commitment to building out the ground, data, and digital operation the RNC has been working on for years, that gives me total confidence she is the right woman to lead the RNC,” Mr. Priebus said.

On Thursday, one day before the inauguration, the RNC formally chose to install her for the role the new president nominated her for last month.

“I’m excited to have a highly effective leader in Ronna McDaniel as RNC Deputy Chair and I look forward to her serving as the Party’s Chairman in 2017,” President-elect Trump said in a statement. “Ronna has been extremely loyal to our movement and her efforts were critical to our tremendous victory in Michigan, and I know she will bring the same passion to the Republican National Committee.”

On Nov. 8, President-elect Trump and down-ballot candidates performed far better than Republicans had among women in previous cycles, as well as was predicted by the polls. But Ms. McDaniel said in her statement that the party will make an even greater than ever before to reach out to female voters.

“For far too long, Democrats have hailed themselves as the party of women,” Ms. McDaniel said. “As Republicans, we know their so-called monopoly on being the party of women is false, and it is a mindset I intend to change.”
