Chelsea-Hillary-Bill-Clinton-money

This week, as Democrats fawn over Hillary Clinton, I’m struck by how both Clintons continue to thrive despite their remarkable record of sleazy dealings.

The just released documentary “Clinton Cash,” based on a book by Peter Schweizer, explains how they make big money by selling access to themselves.

In a conversation, Schweizer told me how the Clintons use “speaking fees” to get around bribery laws.

“If somebody gave a politician or family member money for a favor, that’s breaking the law. But if you say it’s a speaking fee, and you pay double or triple the normal rate, that seems to be legal.”

Since Bill Clinton left office, he’s earned more than $126 million giving speeches. Nothing wrong with that. Bill likes to talk, and if people want to pay big bucks to hear him or just to say they were near him, so be it. It’s their own money.

But what suggests influence peddling, says Schweizer, is that before Hillary became secretary of state, Bill’s usual fee was less than $200,000. But after Hillary became secretary of state, he made as much as $750,000 per speech.

That’s “evidence that people paying him expect to get something in return,” says Schweizer. “She becomes appointed secretary of state, a friend of the president of Nigeria suddenly offers (Bill) $700,000 apiece for two speeches. An investment firm in Moscow that’s tied to the Kremlin who had never paid for him to speak before suddenly gave him $500,000.”

Those are just two of many examples cited in “Clinton Cash.”

Sometimes the Clintons launder the money through the Clinton Foundation. It’s collected more than $2 billion to “improve global health and wellness.”

But Sean Davis of The Federalist examined Clinton Foundation records and concluded only about 15 percent of the money goes to actual charity work to help needy people.

Most is spent paying Clinton cronies and other well-connected people to schmooze with governments and charities, which supposedly helps those governments and charities help people. I doubt it helps much.

Even the earthquake in Haiti became a moneymaking opportunity for the Clintons.

After the earthquake, the Clinton Foundation announced that it would work with governments and businesses to help rebuild Haiti. Actual rebuilding has been meager.
A Clinton Foundation press release promised an industrial park that would create “up to 60,000 jobs.” Just 7,000 jobs have been created.

What the Foundation (SET ITAL) has (END ITAL) managed to do is help Clinton “friends.” One, Irish billionaire Denis O’Brien, runs Digicel, a company that wanted a grant to build Haiti’s cellphone network.

“Four weeks after their application,” says Schweizer, Digicel sponsored a speech for Bill Clinton in Jamaica and “paid him $225,000. Within four months of that speech, Digicel would receive the first installment of that grant money.”

Hillary Clinton’s brother, Tony Rodham, even managed to cash in. The Haitian government awarded an exclusive gold mining contract to a company called VCS mining. VCS, says Schweizer, “has no experience in mining, very little experience in Haiti, and it raises the question, of all the companies out there, why did the Haitian government pick this one company?”

The Clintons will tell you that it had nothing to do with the facts that Hillary’s brother got a job with VCS and the chairman happens to be a Democratic donor.
The worst example in “Clinton Cash,” says Schweizer, is the Ericsson telecom deal. The Swedish company Ericsson was in trouble with the State Department because it sold telecom equipment to repressive regimes.

Says Schweizer, “WikiLeaks cables show the State Department sort of busting up the Swedish foreign minister, saying you need to get Ericsson into line. Ericsson decides that this would be a great time to sponsor a speech by Bill Clinton. They had never done so before. They decided to go big, $750,000 for a 20-minute speech. Bill gives the speech and literally seven days later, the State Department comes out with a statement saying we’re not going to take further action against Ericsson. We’re going to ask them to police themselves.”

Hillary Clinton would like you to believe that electing a woman (Electionbettingodds.com shows she is favored 67 percent to 32 percent) means you’ve picked an “outsider” who will put a stop to Washington favoritism. Don’t believe it.

I hope “Clinton Cash” gets the attention it deserves.

Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, listens to the delegate roll call vote at the 2016 Democratic National Convention.

Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine, who accepted the Democratic nomination for vice president, has been accused by the Left and Right of being owned by big banks. Republican nominee Donald Trump said he was “bought and paid for by the banks” and, like Hillary Clinton, would “betray” voters on trade. Criticisms have come as hard and as often from the Left as they have from the Right.

Well, we took a look at Mr. Kaine’s political benefactors as revealed by documents at the Federal Election Commission and they’re right. For those looking to elect a team to upset the status quo, Sen. Kaine is not their change agent. His support from the building and the halls of power that have a financial incentive to keep the country moving in the same direction is even more than we’ve typically seen from most members of the U.S. Congress.

Progressives, particularly those who supported Sen. Bernie Sanders, were not at all excited about Mrs. Clinton’s vice presidential choice. Mr. Kaine came under fire immediately after the announcement from members of his own party over a letter he had written to banks. Sen. Kaine signed a letter requesting regulators to rethink how banking rules cover regional banks, while leaving small community banks to be burdened by disproportional regulation.

The letter was addressed to chiefs at the Federal Reserve, Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Sen. Kaine was one of four Senate Democrats to sign on to the letter, to include Virginia Sen. Mark Warner. Sens. Kaine and Warner have strong lobbyist ties to Capital One, the tenth biggest bank in the United States by assets, which is based in McLean, Virginia (thanks to the Democratic Party).

“Let’s be really clear: It should be disqualifying for any potential Democratic vice presidential candidate to be part of a lobbyist-driven effort to help banks dodge consumer protection standards and regulations designed to prevent banks from destroying our economy,” Democracy for America executive director Charles Chamberlain said in a statement Thursday. “Our presidential ticket cannot beat the billionaire bigot by simply being not-Donald Trump. To win in November, our ticket needs to have an unquestionably strong record in the fight against income inequality, one of the defining issues of the 2016 election.”

According to FEC filings, the McLean region is the largest political contributor to Mr. Kaine behind only D.C. and Wall Street. Banking and finance are among his top five contributing industries from 2011 to 2015, and the globalist “full service” public affair firm McGuireWoods LLP is among his top five individual contributors.

McGuireWoods, a lobbyist firm with more than 1,000 lawyers in 23 offices in every major U.S. city playing for taxpayer dollars and special interest tax breaks, represents some of the worst elitist offenders. They are completely in favor of globalization, were against Brexit and involved in the fear-mongering campaign to “Remain,” spent millions promoting the Trans-Pacific Partnership and much, much more.

“We have unique cooperative arrangements in China with law firm FuJae Partners, in France with KGA, in Israel with Shenhav Konforti Rotem & Co. (SKR), and in Saudi Arabia with Badr Alarishi,” the company writes in a statement. “Our international presence is further enhanced by participation in the global legal networks Lex Mundi and LNI.”

In fact, we find it all but impossible for Mr. Kaine to have the political strength to oppose TPP and certainly is overwhelmingly funded by those who have a financial interest to fight Mrs. Clinton’s promise to the UAW to renegotiate NAFTA.

Worth noting, he is deeply entrenched with trial lawyers associations and those who have spent hundreds of millions of dollars making money off of frivolous lawsuits. Even on individual contributions, lawyers are the top contributing professionals, by far.

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he was going to deliver an “unconventional convention speech” at the DNC, but it wasn’t well-received. While he had some zingers prepared, they were met with turned backs and chants of “You ruined New York City!”

“There are times when I disagree with Hillary,” he told the crowd in his endorsement. “But whatever our disagreements may be, I’ve come here to say: We must put them aside for the good of our country. And we must unite around the candidate who can defeat a dangerous demagogue.”

“I’ve been a Democrat, I’ve been a Republican, and I eventually became an Independent because I don’t believe either party has a monopoly on good ideas or strong leadership,” he said. However, delegates were turning their backs and holding signs that read “racist” among other things, a protest to the former mayor’s policy of “stop and frisk,” which was ruled constitutional.

One delegate from Virginia was not impressed — overheard after Bloomberg speech saying, “This is really effective — one billionaire to another. Boring.”

The final two days of the Democratic National Convention might be filled with actors hired via a Craigslist listing to give viewers the appearance of party unity. Upwards of 700 paid actors could be replacing a significant number of Bernie Sanders supporters who had their convention credentials revoked after they staged a walk out as former President Bill Clinton took the stage to speak on behalf of his wife.

The pressing question: Was this posted by the DNC? We can’t say for sure.

The ad, which offers to pay “$50.00 each night” per actor for “the remainder of the convention” on Wednesday and Thursday night, was quickly taken down when People’s Pundit Daily requested a comment. However, we were still able to grab a screenshot from the web archive (H/T Google Wayback). The DNC apparently hasn’t yet learned that what goes out on the Internet (emails included) are never truly “gone” when deleted.

On Tuesday, People’s Pundit Daily confirmed and reported that during the negotiations between the Sanders and DNC-Clinton camps, the DNC wanted assistance in identifying supporters of the socialist senator who may repeat the embarrassments from Monday night on Wednesday and Thursday, when big names like Joe Biden, Barack Obama and ultimately Hillary Clinton take the stage.

Craigslist ads offered $50.00 to actors to fill the "National Convention" during the final two days of the Democratic National Convention at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

The convention began to fall apart after the anti-secrecy group WikiLeaks released roughly 20,000 DNC emails exposing corruption and a pro-Clinton bias against Sen. Sanders. The leak led to the ousting of DNC chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, who was replaced by someone (Donna Brazile) who called the Vermont senator “stupid.” Now, with large anti-Hillary protests building still outside the convention, they have potentially been forced to hire “rent-a-crowds” to give off the appearance of party unity.

President Barack Obama has instructed staff to clear his presidential schedule in the month of October so he can campaign non-stop for Hillary Clinton. People’s Pundit Daily has confirmed that Mr. Obama, who previously mocked the Donald Trump’s chances at victory in November, is now extremely concerned about the latest polling data.

With the Republican nominee getting a larger-than-expected bounce after the convention last week in Cleveland, President Obama is now forced to contemplate what a Trump presidency would mean for his legacy items, including his still-unpopular signature health care law.

When pressed for more details about the day-to-day operations and duties of the presidency, as in who will be responsible for carrying them out, they offered none.

Mr. Trump now leads on the PPD average of national polls by 2.3 points, though his lead in the most recent polls is as high as 7 percentage points. Only a few short months ago, the president and Mrs. Clinton mocked the idea Mr. Trump was a serious threat, though the prospect of him running in 2012 concerned Mr. Obama more than Mitt Romney. Now, Democratic advisors are alarmed by how close he is to reaching the 50-percent threshold and how badly Mrs. Clinton’s image has become.

A recent Gallup survey conducted ahead of the Democratic National Convention found voters’ views on Mrs. Clinton more negative than ever before measured in the nearly 3 decades of her political career.

pending-home-sales-reuters

The National Association of Realtors said Wednesday the Pending Home Sales Index (PHSI) was essentially flat in June, missing the median forecast. Pending home sales, or a gauge of contracts to buy previously-owned homes, rose 0.2% last month, less than the 1.4% rise economists expected.

“With only the Northeast region having an adequate supply of homes for sale, the reoccurring dilemma of strained supply causing a run-up in home prices continues to play out in several markets, leading to the last two months reflecting a slight, early summer cooldown after a very active spring,” said NAR chief economic Lawrence Yun. “Unfortunately for prospective buyers trying to take advantage of exceptionally low mortgage rates, housing inventory at the end of last month was down almost 6 percent from a year ago,1 and home prices are showing little evidence of slowing to a healthier pace that more closely mirrors wage and income growth.”

Regional Breakdown

The PHSI in the Northeast increased 3.2% to 96.0 in June and is now 1.7% above a year ago. In the Midwest, contracts increased by 0.8% to 108.9 and the PHSI is now 1.6% higher than June 2015.

Pending home sales in the South fell by 0.6% to 125.9, but are 1.8% higher than last June. The index in the West declined 1.3% in June to 101.3, and is now 1.8% below a year ago.

The National Association of Realtors said Wednesday

All six Baltimore police officers charged in the Freddie Gray case.

All six Baltimore police officers charged in the Freddie Gray case.

All of the criminal charges against all six Baltimore police officers charged with the death of Freddie Gray have been dropped. The development came after Baltimore Circuit Court Judge Barry Williams found Lt. Brian Rice, the highest ranking officer charged in the Freddie Gray case, not guilty. Lt. Rice was the fourth officer to stand trial was tried after Judge Williams previously acquitted Officers Edward Nero and Caesar Goodson Jr. of all charges.

Prosecutors tried to argue Gray was illegally arrested after he ran away from a bike patrol officer and the officers failed to buckle him into his seat belt or call a medic when he indicated he wanted to go to a hospital. Gray was well-known by police and had a habit of “putting on a show” when he was arrested in the past.

The death added fuel to the growing fire surrounding race relations and policing in the nation. The Black Lives Matter movement and others protested in the wake of his death and riots erupted in Baltimore, causing the worst damage the city had seen in decades.

Meanwhile, there are growing calls to disbar Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby over her conduct during the investigation and prosecution. Professor John F. Banzhaf, a law professor at George Washington University School of Law, filed a disciplinary complaint with the Maryland Bar Counsel that states Mosby violated multiple provisions of the Maryland Lawyer’s Rules of Professional Conduct (RPC), to include withholding exculpatory evidence, making inappropriate statements in public (to poison the jury) and continuing to prosecute a case after it has been established there is insufficient evidence to support a conviction.

The professor is known for bringing complaints against against overzealous prosecutors in high profile cases, giving him the reputation for being a justice system watchdog. He played a pivotal role in the disbarment and successful civil lawsuits against Mike Nifong, the prosecutor who continued to proceed in the Duke lacrosse case even when it became clear it was a race-baiting, manufactured incident.

Professor Banzahaf called Marilyn Mosby “a runaway prosecutor” and claims she never even had probable cause to charge the six officers in the death of Freddie Gray. Further, he accuses Ms. Mosby of only filing those charges to stop the destructive rioting in Baltimore, something Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake infamously said she wanted to give them “space” to do.

“I heard your call for ‘No justice, no peace.’ Your peace is sincerely needed as I work to deliver justice on behalf of this young man,” Mrs. Mosby said in May of 2015. Now, with more “not guilty” verdicts almost assuredly on their way (from the bench of a black judge), a repeat riot in an already economically depressed city is increasingly likely.

Hillary Clinton is gearing up to flip-flop on her opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), again, just hours after Donald Trump predicted she would. Speaking on the “O’Reilly Factor” Tuesday night, he said Hillary supported the deal before he made it politically toxic and will change her mind again after the election.

His comment comes as Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a longtime Clinton ally under federal investigation for public corruption, told Politico that he believes Clinton will support the deal, which she called “the Gold Standard” in trade deals, albeit with some slight changes. The report also comes after Clinton told the head of the UAW that she would rewrite NAFTA, a trade deal signed by her husband that cost Americans millions of jobs in the Rust Belt and around the country.

The Republican nominee responded to the reports that Mrs. Clinton is gearing up to support a form of the controversial TPP trade deal. Responding on Twitter, he said “Crooked Hillary Clinton will betray you on the TPP.”

The Clinton campaign has called Gov. McAuliffe’s comments wrong, and the governor’s spokesman later walked back the comments.

Democrats in Philadelphia officially nominated Hillary Clinton for president, making her the first woman to top a major party ticket. While South Dakota’s delegation put her over the top in the tally, the nomination came during the roll call vote when Sen. Bernie Sanders moved to suspend and by acclamation.

“I move that the convention suspend procedural rules,” Sen. Sanders said. “I move that all votes cast by delegate be reflected in the official record…I move that Hillary Clinton be selected as nominee of the Democratic Party for President of the United States.”

Though historic, Mrs. Clinton’s nomination comes mired in controversy, corruption and scandal. The anti-secrecy group WikiLeaks released roughly 20,000 emails revealing the corrupt establishment in the Democratic National Committee working against Sen. Sanders to coronate the former secretary of state, leading to the firing of DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz and protests in Philadelphia.

As Sanders and Clinton’s names were put into nomination, Bernie’s name got a huge roar from the crowd, with chants of “Bernie, Bernie” and “Feel the Bern.” Sen. Sanders supporters protested, with some unfurling “Election Fraud” banners in the crowd.

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, who resigned in protest from the DNC over how Wasserman Schultz treated Sanders, took the stage placing Sanders name in nomination. The final vote tally was Clinton: 2842 & Sanders: 1865. The superdelegates gave Mrs. Clinton the edge, which was exemplified by the 66 to 81 in a state where Bernie Sanders won.
