Not too long after a recent campaign shake-up, it appears that Republican candidate Ken Cuccinelli may just be catching back up to Democrat Terry McAuliffe. In a recent article, I provided detailed information that flew in the face of the other political pundits, and now I think I will do it again.

Sometimes even I hate to be right, but Ken Cuccinelli is going to lose the Virginia governor race if the dynamics do not change soon. Yesterday, in “Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell’s Approval Sending GOP A Message,”  I argued that the GOP needs to start wholeheartedly backing Ken Cuccinelli if for no other reason but to test out the new GOTV technology in an effort to shrink the tech deficit with Democrats.

Virginia is conducting nothing short of a grand political experiment, testing whether a tea party favorite can carry a closely divided state. If Ken Cuccinelli succeeds, he will undercut Republican moderates’ claims that hard-right ideologies are hurting the party, and undoubtedly intensify a debate already roiling the GOP. Most Virginians continue to like the job Governor Bob McDonnell is doing, but they also do not like Ken Cuccinelli or Terry McAuliffe.
